A Shopify fashion store for abaya brands is mostly about fit and timing
Modest-wear customers buy on fabric, cut and length, and they buy around Ramadan and Eid. Get fit information wrong and returns eat the margin, especially on cash on delivery. Miss a drop or a delivery cut-off before Eid and the season is gone. Theme demos don't show either problem.
We build Shopify stores for UAE abaya, modest-wear and ready-to-wear labels, merchant side: the product data, custom fields, launch mechanics and payment rules behind the lookbook. This is capability, not a portfolio, and we'll show you how each part is built.
What we build for fashion and modest-wear brands
| Need | How we build it on Shopify |
|---|---|
| Size guides and fit | Size charts per style stored as product data, measurements in centimetres, model height and size worn, and fit notes ("runs loose", "size down for a closer fit") right next to the size picker. |
| Made-to-measure and custom length | Length, sleeve, height and notes collected on the product page as line item properties, with required fields and sensible limits, printed on the order for your atelier. Charging for alterations needs a priced add-on or an app. |
| Lookbooks with RTL layouts | Editorial, shoppable lookbook pages in English and Arabic, with layouts mirrored properly for right-to-left rather than flipped text on an LTR page. |
| Drops and pre-orders | Scheduled collection launches, early access for a customer list, back-in-stock alerts, per-customer limits on small runs, and pre-orders with a clear dispatch date through a pre-order app. |
| Ramadan and Eid collections | Occasion collections and gift cards built ahead of the season, with last-order dates for delivery before Eid shown on product and cart pages. |
| Returns and exchanges | A written policy the store enforces: exchange-first returns, self-serve return requests, and made-to-measure pieces marked final sale. |
COD and returns: where fashion margins go
Cash on delivery remains common in UAE fashion, and it carries a cost that shows up later: a refused or "not at home" parcel comes back to you with shipping paid both ways, after the stock has been off the shelf for days. We set up COD with rules rather than switching it on everywhere: verification before dispatch, limits by order value, and no COD on made-to-measure items you can't resell.
Prepaid is the other half. Tabby and Tamara suit abaya price points, and cards with Apple Pay reduce the friction that pushes customers to COD. Setup is covered on our Shopify payment gateway UAE page.
Instagram, TikTok and GCC shipping
Many modest-wear brands start on Instagram. Meta's Facebook & Instagram app for Shopify syncs your catalogue for shoppable posts and ads, so product, price and stock stay in step with the store. TikTok's own Shopify app does the same for TikTok ads and lists TikTok Shop syncing; whether TikTok Shop checkout is open to your business depends on the market, so check before planning a launch around it.
For Saudi Arabia and the rest of the GCC, Shopify Markets handles local currencies and prices. Think about returns before you open a market: a cross-border return can cost more than the margin on the piece, so many brands offer exchanges or store credit for international orders.
How we work
- Scoping call — we look at your range, sizing, custom-order process, launch calendar and current return reasons.
- Written quote — every project is scoped and quoted individually, so you get a fixed scope, timeline and price in writing before anything starts.
- Build — art direction and design through Shopify web design, product data and size guides, custom fields, launch mechanics, payments and shipping.
- Launch — test orders including made-to-measure and COD, staff walk-through, then go live well before Ramadan rather than in the week of it.
- Support — drop set-ups, seasonal campaigns and fixes through Shopify support.
Is this right for you?
Good fit: UAE abaya, modest-wear and fashion labels with their own designs, a following, and plans for drops, made-to-measure or GCC, who want a store that reflects the brand and is built properly.
Not a fit: dropshipping or a quick theme install for a first test collection. A standard theme is the right start there.
What we need from you: size charts per style, your custom-order process, product photography or a shoot plan, the launch calendar, courier and payment accounts, and your returns policy (or a decision on one). For the wider build, see Shopify development in Dubai or other industries we build for.
